Perched atop Cerro del Castillo in Santiago de los Caballeros, this iconic marble tower soars approximately 67 meters high and offers sweeping panoramic views of the city and nearby mountain range. Originally built in 1953 under the name Monumento a la Paz de Trujillo, it was renamed in 1961 to honor the heroes of the Restoration War (1863–1865). Inside, visitors explore a compelling museum filled with murals, sculptures, exhibits, and a stairway with 365 steps, symbolizing watchful care throughout the year. Today, the monument stands as a powerful emblem of Dominican national pride and cultural identity.
